How to help

1. Volunteer – Lawrence Meals On Wheels is always in need of additional volunteers. See Volunteer tab or call 830-8844 for info.
 2. Donate Office Supplies – copy paper and postage stamps are always needed. Call 830-8844 for info.
 3. Donate small candy bars to our office – Our volunteers do not get paid except for a candy bar!  So we go through about $100- $120 worth of candy per month! We use over 125 volunteers a week, so we go through a lot of sweets!
 4. Become an Event Sponsor or donate an item to our annual fundraiser, “Chefs & Refs.”
 5. An Additional Route is Needed – See below:
Monday-Friday, Meals On Wheels volunteers deliver between 115-135 hot nutritious meals to homebound elderly and/or disabled clients residing in Lawrence. That’s over 33,000 meals per year.
Currently, we have 20 routes that each serve 6-8 clients. Every week we utilize a volunteer staff of over 125 regular and substitute drivers. We are experiencing an increase in the number of clients who need our services and also in the number who need financial assistance as well. Throughout our 49-year history of service, we have never turned anyone away based on their ability to pay. We need to add an additional route and would like to enlist your help to do so.

Here’s how you can help

(In Kind Value = $1,000+. Each volunteer hour is valued at $20/hr)
_____ Volunteer as an organization to deliver a route each week. Pick a day(s) (i.e Tuesdays) and gather 2-8 individuals who wish to deliver meals every Tuesday, every other Tues. or even just once a month. Your organization is responsible to make sure the route is delivered every Tuesday and people can do it individually or in teams of two. It takes an hour or less and can easily be done over the lunch hour.
_____ Volunteer as an individual as a weekly regular driver and drive the same day and route each week or as needed as a substitute driver. (See our Volunteer Page for more info.)
